The pups grow up inside the house, first in the whelping box, then in a puppypen. If the weather allows it they will be able to go outside from around 4 weeks. Here they learn the first basics of potty training.
From day 3 we already start with the socialisation, with "early neurological stimulation" and "early scent introduction". These are simple excercises that help with their development, resilience and coping mechanisms.
These excercises are short but can have a big impact later in life.
Besides that the pups will also be socialised with other dogs from the pack, people, and will be taken out to the petstore, vet, gardencentre etc.
Also the beginning of crate and clicker training will be practised with the pups, so the transition to their forever home will go as smooth as possible.
With 7 weeks a puppy behavioural test will be done, this contains:
- People orientation and social binding: coming and following the tester. - Social domination / dealing with childeren: harder petting, pressing head down. - Losing control: levitating of the pup of 15 seconds. - Agreeableness: keeping the puppy away from something, restricting the freedom of a puppy - Drive: taking and sharing objects and food - willingness to work: apportt, scenttrail - Sensitivity to sound: a can with coins - Correctability / sensitivity: how sensitive is a pup for a vocal correction - Problemsolving/perseverance: looking for the way out of a barrier/ finding a hidden piece of food. - Independence, exploration behaviour: how independent is a pup, does he go his own way? - Hunting/ follow drive: reaction of a moving object on the ground.
This is why it is important to fill in the puppyform clearly with your expectations, and what you want to do later in life.
